Anthony Chee Emerson, Navajo, was born in 1963 in the Four Corners area of New Mexico where he still resides today. Anthony graduated from high school and attended college at the University of New Mexico for a time. He began earning a living doing residential and commercial painting. but his spare time was spent doing what he really loved, and that was creating art on canvas. He started painting professionally in the early 1980's, but his career blossomed in 1995 when he won a First Place Ribbon at the Gallup Intertribal Indian Ceremonial. As a result, he spent less time doing "house painting" and more time creating "works of art". In 1999, he and his wife opened Emerson Gallery in Farmington, NM where he showcases his own work as well as the works of his friends and associates. Anthony is a regular at all the major Native American Show events such as Indian Market in Santa Fe and the Heard Museum Show held annually in Phoenix, AZ. We are proud to represent the art of Anthony Chee Emerson on our website.
